Here are the answers to some commonly asked questions about the giving campaign. Please contact us if you have additional questions.

I understand the Benevity giving platform is going away, what will replace it?

Answer

As of July 1, you will be using the employee matching link on psefoundation.org. You will no longer be required to enter a user id or password, your information is already in the system. Simply complete the form and hit send! It’s as simple as that.

Why are we moving away from Benevity?

Answer

We have heard from many employees and retirees that it is too difficult and time consuming and our employee matching levels continue to decline.

Can I still sign up to donate through payroll deduction?

Answer

Yes, you can, during the annual employee giving campaign May 9 – 27. During that time, you can make donations, sign up for monthly deductions through payroll and apply for PSE matching funds.

When applying for matching funds, do I need a receipt for my payroll donations?

Answer

No, unless you make a one-time donation larger than $500 to a single organization or monthly donations to one organization in excess of $500 a month.

Does PSE support United Way?

Answer

Yes, in 2016 the PSE Foundation will contribute $255,000 to 13 local United Way Chapters in Washington State. And, Kimberly Harris will chair the annual United Way of King County Workplace Giving Campaign Committee July 1, 2016 – June 30, 2017.

If I sign up through United Way, will my charity receive all of the dollars I donate?

Are the charities I donate to aware I made a donation?

Answer

Yes, the charities receive a list of the donations and donors. In addition, when you apply for matching funds through psefoundation.org, the letter and check sent to the charity clearly defines the donors and amounts donated.

Can I stop recurring donations?

Answer

Yes. Should you need to cancel your recurring donation during the year, you can contact sandra.carson@pse.com and she will assist you with that change.

Who is eligible for matching funds?

Answer

The Puget Sound Energy Foundation funds the Puget Sound Energy (PSE) Employee Matching Program which is designed to encourage and recognize charitable giving for part-time or full-time benefits eligible employees, board members and retirees. Only qualified nonprofits in PSE’s service and operations areas are eligible for matching funds.

When I make a donation through payroll deduction is it automatically matched?

Answer

No, you must apply for all matching donations. You may apply for your monthly payroll donations all at one time during the giving campaign. Individual donations may be applied for anytime during the year before December 15.

What if I have already used part of my annual matching allocation?

Answer

All information on matching donations year- to-date will transfer over from Benevity to the new system.

What if I make donations or volunteer between April 30 – July 1, will those be matched?

Answer

Yes, please hang on to your receipts or time logs and turn in those items for matching funds after July 1.

If I choose payroll deduction is my monthly donation only for the calendar year?

Answer

No, your donation will run from 7/1/2016 – 6/30/2017. You will have the opportunity to change your donations annually, through the annual employee giving campaign, to the amount and charity of your choice.

What if I don’t have access to a computer?

Do I get paid for volunteering?

Answer

No, volunteering is done on your free time and with permission of your manager if during work hours. Yes, volunteer hours are matched at $12.50 per hour for any qualified nonprofit in PSE’s service and operations area. Your yearly hourly match is a maximum of $500 total. Nonprofits are sent the funds quarterly on behalf of the PSE employee and the PSE Foundation.
